ANDERS FALK – CAMERA MAN / DIRECTOR / PRODUCER

Anders Falk has been cameraman or director for EPKs and behind-the-scenes documentaries for titles grossing over $3.7 billion worldwide.  He has worked with some of Hollywood's most successful actors and directors, including four films with Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Cameron.

Born and raised in Sweden, Anders Falk was brought to Los Angeles as University of Southern California’s only international student given an exclusive full Trustee Scholarship, the university’s highest honor for entering freshmen.  The five-year scholarship included a year of film studies in Paris, France. Fluent in four languages, he graduated with honors from USC School of Cinematic Arts, double-majoring in Cinema-Television Production and Social Ethics.

Subsequently he got involved in numerous television projects and low-budget feature films, with duties ranging from art department to camera.

Falk first worked with Cameron and Schwarzenegger while shooting The Making of Terminator 2.

Reteaming with the dynamic director and actor team for The Making of True Lies as Producer/Director, Falk was responsible for all video publicity throughout the making of the film, with featurettes, media B-roll and material for two half-hour television specials.

Falk shot the interviews for Under Pressure – Making the Abyss in conjunction with the Special Edition theatrical re-release of Cameron’s underwater epic. The honest interviews with cast and crew, especially with star Ed Harris, rank among Falk’s favorites to this day.

Falk also worked on two films directed by Roland Emmerich, Universal Soldier starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and fellow Swede Dolph Lundgren, and Stargate starring Kurt Russell and James Spader. Due to scheduling conflicts Falk was not present on set for Emmerich’s Godzilla but shot some visual effects interviews and supervised the EPK on-line editing for the monster movie.

Falk shot two more behind-the-scenes with Schwarzenegger; the star-studded comedy Last Action Hero, directed by John McTiernan, featuring among others a supporting role by Charles Dance and a cameo by Sir Ian McKellen as Death; and Eraser directed by Chuck Russell, co-starring Vanessa Williams and James Caan.

Falk’s commercial work included directing spots for the Swedish national campaign for Ekstroms’ desserts.  Extremely successful, these commercials received some of the highest scores in market industry testing.  Falk also produced high concept commercials for Lofberg's Coffee, featuring 300 frames-per-second slow-motion 35mm photography.

Falk acted as Director of Photography for The Making of Titanic, Cameron's historical epic that won a record-tying 11 Oscars, and brought in the then highest box-office receipts in cinema history.  Responsible for the exclusive behind-the-scenes coverage of Titanic, Falk handled all cast and crew interviews used for network and cable documentaries as well as worldwide entertainment news distribution.  Falk was also Associate Producer on the Fox Network one-hour special entitled Titanic-Breaking New Ground. Falk later shot new interviews and material for the 3-disc Special Edition DVD (4-disc edition worldwide).

For two seasons Falk traversed North America and Mexico field-directing various segments of Weller-Grossman Productions’ Radical Sabbatical biography TV-show, meeting interesting people in Nova Scotia, St. Lawrence river, Connecticut, Grass Valley, Lake Tahoe, Alaska, Guadalajara, and climbing Mt. Baker, Washington, with Mountain Madness owner Christine Boskoff, the world renowned female alpinist who later sadly perished on Genie Mountain in China.

After running the camera department for two seasons Falk took over as director for two more seasons of Fox Reality Channel’s show Solitary, where he coordinated a team starting out with 12 manned cameras, 9 remote controlled and 18 fixed cameras. The fourth season received the highest viewership to date. Falk also directed the first season of a German language version of Solitary, with contestants flown in from Europe to the California studio.

Falk has been shooting and/or editing a variety of reality show concepts, ranging from educational to romantic and competition style programs. He also produced, directed and edited 125 short subject videos for a tax internet site.

In Las Vegas Falk shot all 60 contestant interviews for Penn & Teller’s competition magic show Fool Us for Season 3 after having filmed some of them for Season 2.

In frequent collaboration with R.B. Davies, Inc., Falk has since 2006 worked on commercials for St. Jude Children’s research Hospital, featuring among others Jennifer Aniston, Jimmy Kimmel, Sofia Vergara, Antonio Banderas, Ray Romano, and the late Robin Williams and Bernie Mac. Since 2013 Falk has also contributed to Wounded Warrior Project, shooting commercials with actors such as Dean Norris and, most recently, country music star Trace Adkins.

Falk was second-unit director and D.P. on a sizzle reel shoot for a TV-series about the Greek war of independence in 1820. While the series is still in development, director Van Ling went ahead and shot the epic historical feature film drama Cliffs of Freedom on the same subject, co-starring Christopher Plummer, with New Mexico standing in for Greece. Falk Productions shot the behind-the-scenes on the yet to be released movie.
